Welcome to the third grade! My name is Jodi Golochowicz and I am excited to be teaching third grade this year. This will be my twelfth year of teaching students. I have taught all grades from kindergarten through eighth grade, in regular education and also in physical education. I graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree focusing on math, language arts, and physical education from kindergarten to eighth grade. My first two years of teaching were in Bartow, Florida and I have spent the remainder of my career at North Huron. Go Warriors! I have five children: Austin, Jake, Michael, Sadie, and Matthew. We also have a dog, Fetch, a few goldfish, and two cats: Blizzy and Jasmine. I enjoy reading, taking walks and bike rides, playing with my children, and scrapbooking. I also enjoy being out on the water kayaking and boating. I am hoping that you are excited and ready for a successful 3rd grade year and look forward to seeing your smiling face!
There are a few things that you may want to know as we plan for this year and I say “we” because we will work together to give your child the best opportunity to grow. First, we will have physical education daily. Please make sure your child has a set of clean shoes that he/she can wear. They do not have to be brand new. (Keep in mind, kids’ feet grow, so I would get a ½ size larger than what they actually wear so they fit for the year!) Second, we will have snack daily. I am perfectly okay with your child having a water bottle with a twist top or flip top at their desk or in their cubby to sip on throughout the day. It gets hot and they are thirsty after physical education, so please send water with them. Please label the bottle with their name so if it should be misplaced, we can get it back to your child. As for snacks, I ask that they be on the healthy side--Little Debbies and chips are not considered healthy. If your child’s snack needs refrigeration, zip me an email that morning and I will make sure we get it cold. I check my email regularly. Some good options for healthy snacks are fruit, cereal, crackers, yogurt and cheese. Birthdays--Even though I am a firm believer of healthy snacks, birthdays are birthdays and they are a special treat! If you would like to send in a treat for either your child individually or a classroom treat, I am okay with that! They only turn a year older once a year, so let’s enjoy their birthday! Nut allergies--Birthdays, also leads me to some allergies. In the past I have had students who have had allergies. I ask that, for snack or treats that are brought to school, within the classroom, not be anything with nuts; so no peanut butter or any type of nut for a snack within the classroom. Lunch is personal choice, but when we are in the classroom, I’d appreciate it if any nut product was abstained from. Thank you in advance!
Throughout the year, I will include in my newsletter any items that we may need and ask for donations. This is greatly appreciated!
I feel strongly that communication is important as children grow. I can be reached in a number of ways. The best way to contact me is through my email: [email protected]. If you write a note, I will get back with you. I also have a webpage that you can access on our homepage. If for some reason the homepage is not working, my link is golochowicz.weebly.com.
